Back to school comes with a lot of feelings. ❤️
Excitement, nerves, exhaustion, anticipation, joy, overwhelm... sometimes all in the same day.
Music can give kids another way to tell us what’s going on when “How was school?” gets us nowhere.
Try asking, “What does today sound like?”
Maybe it was a @taylorswift kind of day. Maybe it calls for some quiet Bach, singing at the top of your lungs to a favorite @disney song, or grabbing a wooden spoon microphone and dancing to “Dance the Night.” Maybe it’s a curl-up-and-listen-to “What a Wonderful World” arranged by @jonbatiste kind of afternoon.
There doesn’t always have to be a lesson attached, and music doesn’t have to fix the feeling. Sometimes it simply gives us another way to notice it, express it, and share it.

This fall we’re back with live music all over NYC: jazz, classical favorites, dancing, instrument exploration, Autumn Leaves, Spooktacular, The Nutcracker and so much more.
We’ll be returning to some of our favorite places, including @hudsonyards, @ghmusicschool, @bkchamberorch, and semester classes with @nypl.

Our interactive school assemblies put students right in the middle of the music: listening, moving, asking questions, exploring instruments, and creating alongside extraordinary professional musicians.
Jazz, classical music, cultural history, SEL, The Nutcracker, tap dancing, music and the brain, and more — with programs designed for students from PreK through high school.
Because a school assembly can be more than something students watch—something they experience, participate in, and remember.

Last week we were dancing at @kidzbop at @wolf_trap.
For us, it was never about raising classical musicians.
