Jones Street Festival with Greenwich House Pottery

What does an elephant sound like on the trombone? Can the drums rumble like thunder or echo the rhythm of a busy street? To find out, join us at Jones Street Festival, hosted by Greenwich House Pottery—a free, family-friendly celebration of art, community, and creativity right in the heart of the West Village! In Musical Wilderness, we will explore how composers transform the sounds of nature and everyday life into music. From playful animal melodies to bustling city rhythms, this lively concert featuring Ric Becker on trombone and vocals, Paula Winter on percussion, David Juarez on guitar, and Dmitry Ishenko on bass invites families to listen closely as instruments chirp, stomp, swirl, and sing. Through joyful performance and interactive moments, audiences of all ages will discover how music captures the voices of the world around us.
Other festivities you can find at the block party include:
Clay Olympics—participants vie for the tallest coil pot, the best pot thrown by foot, the most skillful teapot made whilst blind-folded, and so much more!
Wheel throwing demonstrations and hands-on clay activities for children
Pride at the Pottery—an LGBTQIA+ ceramics pop-up sale, with a portion of proceeds donated to the Stonewall Community Foundation
Community organization tables featuring local nonprofits and neighbors
Arts and education programming from our Pottery and Music Schools and Older Adult Centers
Handcrafted goods from our Older Adult Network knitting club
Local restaurants, cafés, and businesses from the surrounding neighborhood
